A Real Life Case Study.
Ok, today was overall a good training. Why did I say good training? You'll know it as you read on.
Training started rather late today, 8.30am. Up first we had orienting! LOL. I was relying on Yan Hsiang to guide my group, but apparently she had to shift to another group to aid them. Went rather well, 'cause to navigate around we didn't really need to use the compass. Considering that we are familar with the places around our school estate and we just had to find the landmarks. My group consist of Yan Ying, Pei Ling and myself. We were the 2nd group who left the school. We went around the playground near Kranji Primary, then Regent Secondary and the bus stop near my home. Then we had 3 more checkpoints to go, and 20 mins left. The last 3 checkpoints were the most headache. Although we managed to go to all of them, we didn't know how to complete the questions. Haiz. But I really got to bond with my group members, considering that it's a really small group.
Had a nice, slow lunch today. Really glad, because we usually have to choke the food down our throat and really get those tense feeling.
Footdrill training was alright I suppose. Revised some stuff and it lasted for like 2hours. Oh gosh. FDC is like really near!
Soccer was up next. Not really enthu about it. Since I really suck at it. But 1 advantage, I'm not afraid of the ball and I dare to kick people (maybe except for Kenneth)! Dicky was getting an ovation from his group members. Somehow he created a fan club of him. Wa lao. It's like his group members (mostly girls) were like, "Go Dicky! Go Dicky!". LOL. I'm so at a disadvantage. Even if I come back in the future, the most also 5 guys will cheer for me man. My group's name was "INsaneJohns!". Watta cool name. Totally love it. But we lost in the end. 3-2. Sad...
We were dismissed after that and I had to stay back for Newsletter meeting in the SJAB room. Then suddenly Aisyah called Amelia asking for urgent help as a guy fell unconscious outside the Temple. Sir Kenneth and Sir Derrick rushed over. I was not really involve at first, just paying attention to the meeting, thinking that it might not be anything serious. But soon realised that I was very wrong. Later they called Sir Shen Yang for CPR face shield. When CPR comes in, it means that it's really serious - NO pulse nor breathing. Shen Yang was really great, he ran in really quick speed all the way from the school to the temple. When Sok Ting, Beatrice and I reached there, I saw an Indian middle aged male lying on the floor. There was a crowd surrounding him, so couldn't view the situation clearly. Sir Derrick did CPR on his earlier on, covering the casualty's mouth with a bandage. Due to his overweighted size, it might have affected the opening of airway. It could not be open, thus making CPR super difficult to be conducted. Sir Kenneth was trying to check his Dorsal Pedis pulse and realised that he actually pee-ed. I suppose the casualty was suffering from a serious heart attack. The Ambulance only came about 20mins later. Really really worried now. And definately - SHOCK. We could have just witness a death you know. Haiz. Sometimes we can help to a just certain limit but as a basic first aider myself, I really have to learn as much as I can. We have to be mentally prepared and knowledgeable but apparently not what I am today...
