St John's Annual Training Camp 2005
HELLO EVERYONE! I'm back from ST JOHN'S ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP yesterday!

Well, I'm warning you, it's going to be a long post with no photos aided. I'll try to shorten it so ya here it goes:

[Day 1 - 18.11.05]
We fall in at 7am in PT kit with track pants ready to go for our High Element. As the camp *CSM teamed with Nicole, I had a rather rough start. Was running crazy up and down despite the fact that I had a series of illness before camp. But nevermind la, that's the least I could do since Nicole was doing all the admin stuff. We had to pitch our tents and flag staff in 20mins time and got ready for flag raising.
*CSM simply means someone who takes charge and give out instructions taken from officers...
Next we proceeded to the bus and went to CDANS for high elements!!!! We were splited into 2 groups, Saints and Johns. I was in the Saints. Instructor Victor taught us how to wear the hanvest and protective stuff like helmet using model "Ai Sua" (Vain Pot) who is our NCO Kai Ling. Haha. The Saints went for Flying Fox 1st while the others went for other challenges. The Flying Fox was SUPER DUPER FUN! SO freaking shiok ah! For those who dunno what is that, it's like a stunt where you see during Fear Factor when you climb up a few storeys then you jump down loh. Haha. Then you'll reach an end with trainer who would remove those safety gear from you. Most of the people coming down would go "Ouch! Ouch!". Haha. Very funny then the trainer (who is living in woodlands and studied in Fu Chun Sec according to Sze Him yet both of us forgot his name. So Sorry) said" Nevermind I understand". We had a break due to the rain and had lunch. After lunch we swop over and I did the log element. Meaning you have to climb up about 1 or 2 storeys high and stand on a single log and start walking across it. It was really fun. When Rachel got up we were like, "Please call 1900-112-6868. For charity. It's Jeanette walking across the log.". Haha. When it was my turn ( I was getting impatient down there, so super excited to get across it) Ms Tan called me to run across it! Haha. But not really easy to balance yourself up there. So I needed the aid of the rope initially. Then I tried to let go both hands and walk. Ok Game over for high element. (Sian ah! I wanna try EVERYTHING!) Then we had a break and tried the low element. We were given the task of getting across by walking on wood about 3cm thick and 10cm high, placed in a zic zaz manner about 1m each wood and we were suppose to walk 3 wood pieces, and transport 2 very heavy wood blocks in 15mins. We took 45mins in the end. It was a really challenging game. We atempt many times and finally we gotten very far. About 2 more person left. Then Chin Boon FELL! AHHHHHH. Haha. Have to start all OVER again. Boo hoo. SO we learnt our lesson and let the bigger size guys go 1st and completed it. I mean at least we did the job right? Hahaha.
Time to go back to school and had flag lowering. Dinner was in buffet style and (so was the rest of the meals except for breakfast and supper). Shiok right? So we had to do a cheer every meal which goes something like this "Sir enjoy your food. Mdms love your food. NCOs love and enjoy your food. Everyone eat your food." Later in the night it's Sec2s night! Wahaha. We were given 2hrs to set up and get the ball rolling. The 1st game was Whacko when everyone would be splitted into 2 groups and seated in a circle then the Whacko would have to go whack a person and to escape you have to say another person's FULL NAME and the whacko would go and whack the person's name called. Next game was to make use of all your personal belongings on you and the items given to form as many letters as possible. Then the 3rd game was Handicapped Soccer. It was well, the most exciting game. Everyone would be siting on benches and each group would be given a goal post. So they just have to kick the ball into the goals without the use of hands lo. Haha. Everyone was screaming and shouting sooooooo loudly. Then the worst thing happened. It started RAINING! AHHHHHHHHHH. We left the best games behind leh! Hahah. So no choice. Tug of war and Water bomb games have to be cancelled and changed to Cat and Mouse and the Money game.
Then Mdm gathered us one side and listed out our mistakes and did pumping. This time it was different. At 1st she told us 1 pumping for 1 punishment. But what she "left out" was 1 pumping means "O" down once "N" down, "E" down, "1" down. Then if 2 it means, "T", "W" blah blah blah. Then had supper and turned in around 11pm++

[Day 2 - 19.5.05]
Woke up around 5.15am to wash up and fall in around 5.50am. Had daily routine and then triage theory lesson which I took chance to slack.
Up next was the team building games, sec3s organize de. We had to fill the balloon with some water and then blow it to a suitable size. The balloon was made of poor quality so ya. Then we stick the balloon on the board and you have to stand on a marking and start shooting it. I think my team did rather good eventhough many darts dropped behind the stairs. Up next was the egg challenge and I mean it. 1stly, we have to transport the egg with a plastic bag and then crack the egg and pour the egg into the balloon and blow the balloon and sit on it. Woa. I was like "damn it!" I hate eggs! So I did my best to transport the egg and sat on the egg balloons. The final game was a blind folded game. There would be 1 guider to guide you around the obstacle course and there would be many irritaters. They would tickle you, kick you and bump you. I remember somewhere near the lifts, we had to roll on the ground and do something which would make you look stupid infront of many other uniform groups! HAHAHA. Heng I couldn't see them laughing at us man. Haha. Nevertheless, it was FUN!
Had Casualty Sitmulation practical lesson. It was fun. Art and Craft man! But the wound I made was rather, ugly and fake. So sorry rach, to give you such big swollen wound. EHHE. It was then followed by Crime Prevention Lesson in the AVA room with air con switched on! OMG. I was dozing half of the lesson man. I mean it's not really that boring but rather hypnotizing due to lack of sleep and the air con! It was time for changing parade (expected la) and changed into our Full U. Had footdrill lesson then dinner.
We had 1 hour to rehearsal and get ready for our skit. Team 1 and 4 merged and form 1/4 group. I suppose they had a tough time trying to sort everything out but heng everything went well until... it started to rain. So Sir told us it's cancelled and we were all very disappointed. Then we had dinner and suddenly we were asked to fall in and move the benches to the parade square. HAHAHA. What does that mean? It means we had been fooled and the campfire would still go on! The campfire Encees were Amelia and Yong Ting! Haha. They were not bad man, sec 1s sumore. We had group 6's skit up 1st followed by group 5's. Then we danced the friendship dance. It's like a dance when you have to keep changing partner and go 1 whole round (sounds familiar right? Like folkdance loh!). Shaiful was flawning his height man. Keep reaching out so that people cannot reach him. Then we had group 2s' skit with "Horny Boy!" (Chin Boon). It was my group next and I think we did pretty well! =D The last group was the merged group. It was cool consider that they had to come out with one skit in a short period of time. Then we did somemore cheers. My favourite was the 'SJAB Cheer':
I've got the St John spirit right my head
Right in my head x2
I've got the St John Spirit right in my head
Right in my head to stay...

I've got the St John spirit right my heart
Right in my heart x2
I've got the St John Spirit right in my heart
Right in my heart to stay...

I've got the St John spirit
Right my toes Right in my toes x2
I've got the St John Spirit right in my toes
Right in my toes to stay...

I've got the St John spirit
All over me All over me x2
I've got the St John Spirit all over me
All over me to stay...

Then Shaiful was doing a very seducing action for the "all over me" part. HAHAHA. I bet everyone love an encore for that. Then there was a really meaningful song sang by Sir Shen Yang and Kenneth, "Can't Smile Without You". I have to admit that their vocal isn't bad at all! A round of applause please! Then later we were asked to fall in and did a few pumpings. We were asked to hold on to the position and sir Shen Yang was like "Don't look at me! Whatever I'm doing next is for your own good. You can use the items in the 2 buckets behind you to protect yourself from any officers." Ok so we found out that it was water bombs! So we were like crazy people throwing water bombs at each other. HAHAHA, There goes our new camp shirt! &*#@#@*#. HAHHAHA.
Then after supper mdm Chen Yie wanted to check out socks. Well we learnt that the rule is that the socks must be 3 fingers above ankle. But I saw a huge improvement on the socks the next day, everyone looked like a nerd, but 1 for all, all for 1 ma! Just as we are in our bunks (slept in the classroom that night due to the rain), Sir Shen Yang called us out and told us something sad...

[Day 3 - 20.11.05]
*Long, continuous blows of whistle* = Fire! at 3am.I woke up my bunk mates and ran down to the parade square to fall-in. I was really shocked when only half of the squad came down and Sir SY asked for 1 volunteer to go wake the rest up. He also reprimanded us, why we are so selfish to not wake the rest up. Ok apparently, I learnt that everyone actually woke up, just that they were stopped by officers to become the triage casualties. So we had triage practical until 4.30am? Then we had promotion ceremony! I promoted to coporal liao, don't play play. This lasted like until 5.30am? Then we had warm up for PT and Sir SY warned us that the PT today would be very turf. It was actually to...actually to... unpitch our tents in 10mins! WAHAHA! That is just so great. I was thinking of running 2.4km? Or some monsterous number of pumpings. So we unpitched our tents and search for pegs on the field. Then it was breakfast time and after that we had to clean up our bunks, canteen, tents, corridors and toliets. HEHE. Siew Ling, Hannah and I went to clean the classroom block toliets while Sze Him, Sok Ting and Rachel went to clean the canteen toliet. Bunks were to be sparkling clean and I guess it went alright. Then we had footdrill lesson and up on the agenda was Gerak, Hormat and some marching. We had buddy system today and my partner was May and Joey. SO blah blah blah.
Moving on, the officers had bunks check and if we didn't meet the standard we just had to go in and clean again. Hmm. After all these it was "Pay Back" time. We kinda owe the officers 110++ pumpings but after a lot of discussion from minus-ing GST to asking the officers if they are happy to drinking the whole of 1.5 water bottles we managed to reduce the pumpings to 0.5 and it's now happily collecting interest in the pumping bank. HEHE. Soon it was the prize giving time. My team was the champion and we gotten a packed first aid kit! SO NICE! Group 1/4 gotten the Extraordinary title, while group 6 gotten the most enthu group, group 2 was the most united group and finally group 5 was the fastest reaction group. HURRAY! Everyone got prize! Ok so the last prize - The Best Camper went to me! HAHHA. Yeah, I loved the prize, it's an officer T-shirt! WOO HOO! Camp broke at 5pm and it was depressing yet so eager to go home to bathe...
so come on, tell me.
